Mehr noch als in den – teils coronageschwängerten – Vorjahren gerät der Blick in die Gaskugel bezüglich der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung Deutschlands in 2023 zum angestrengten Stochern im Nebel. Zu viele Faktoren können die Entwicklung in die eine oder andere Richtung treiben. Aber selbst wenn 2023 positiver verläuft als gedacht – moderates Wirtschaftswachstum bei nachlassender Inflation – so stehen die Zeichen für die Jahre danach nicht positiv. Wie der nachfolgende Post zeigen wird, hat sich Deutschland in etwas über zwanzig Jahren – zumindest, was politische Zielsetzung und wirtschaftliche Resilienz angeht – lediglich einmal im Kreis gedreht – ohne die damaligen Probleme nachhaltig zu lösen.

The war in Ukraine was still raging, but even in Germany Corona became old news as 2022 drew to a close. Hence, the hope which came up in October already as to the fate of the German economy (here) stabilised in November (here) and got even better at the end of one of the most disturbing years I personally encountered in my not so short life-span.
