Morning Briefing – 15.

The German economy in December 2021 – „distressed“ winter

After there were more questionmarks to the German economy than positive outlooks in November 2021 (here), the ongoing question is, whether it gets better in the foreseeable future. To answer that question, let’s take a more detailed view on the December figures to answer that question:

The German economy in November 2021 – winter does not look too good either

The German economy did not look too good in October 2021 (here), hence the question remained, would it get better in November? So, let’s take a more detailed view on the November figures to answer that question:

The German economy in October 2021 – autumn doesn’t look too good…

Already the last overview of the German economy for September 21 pointed to an at least slowing economy (here), the question is now, will it remain moving forward at all? But, hey, let’s take a more detailed view on it:

The German economy in September 2021 – it doesn’t look too good…

In the last overview about the German economy for August 2021 I was – given the more than „mixed“ data – already wishing for a better autumn (here). Such autumn, though, does not seem to materialise. But let’s take a more detailed view on the further development:

The German economy in July 2021 – let’s hope for a better autumn

The last overview of the German economy for June 2021 wished us all a relaxed summer (here). So, hey, let’s take a more detailed view whether we still can be relaxed:

The German economy in June 2021 – a relaxed summer, but…

The overview of the German economy in the previous months always transported some sort of optimism, however, also always with some pessimistic connotation (cf. for the last issue, here). And also for June 2021 this type of „cautious optimism“ continues. But, hey, let’s take a more detailed view:

The German economy in May 2021 – increased optimism, but…

My last update on the German economy was aptly titled „cautious optimism warranted“ (here) and at first sight it seems that with the receeding pandemic, the economy flows back into its natural habitat. But, hey, let’s take a more detailed view:

The German economy in April 2021 – cautious optimism warranted

To me, the March ’21 figures implied that – given the then stark rising corona-figures – the German economy was rather „walking on egg-shells“ fearing another crash due to the ongoing and soon to be hardened lockdown (cf. here). However, there were signs of hope. Now let’s take a more detailed view into the German economy for April 2021 to see if this hope was indeed warranted:
